FAQ

What exactly are abortion pills?

Abortion pills, also called medication abortion, can be used to end a pregnancy up to 10 weeks from the first day of your last period. The most effective process involves taking two different FDA-approved medications: mifepristone and misoprostol.

How do I know if I'm pregnant? How many weeks into pregnancy do I have to make a decision?

You may have different options available to you depending on where you live (and the laws in your state). It may be harder to get an abortion after 11 or 12 weeks of pregnancy in some states, so it’s important to try to have the abortion as soon as possible, if that’s what you choose.

What do I need for my Telehealth visit?

Telehealth visits are a lot like in-person visits, and your doctor or nurse will ask you the same types of questions. Be ready to talk about:

  • the reason for your visit
  • your health, medical and surgical history
  • any symptoms you're having, how long you’ve had them, and if they’ve changed over time
  • any treatments you’ve tried before or medicines you take now

Can I get the medical abortion through Telehealth?

Our medical centers offer medication abortion, also known as the abortion pill, through Telehealth. Contact Jersey GYN for more information and to schedule your appointment today.

Are abortion pills the same as the "morning after pill"?

No. The morning-after pill is a form of emergency contraception (aka birth control) taken within a few days of unprotected sex in order to prevent a pregnancy. If you are already pregnant, emergency contraception will NOT induce an abortion.
